Basil Oswald

Law Clerk

Basil Oswald (he/him) joined Rutherford Law in September 2021, directly out of law school. While in school, he interned in two judges’ chambers (Judge Eric Vitaliano at the Eastern District of New York and Justice Gerald Lebovits at the New York State Supreme Court, New York County) as well as with the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Voting Section. 

 

He assists with cases in various stages of litigation, from case initiation and client communication through discovery and trial.

 

He relishes the role of advocate and is passionate about social and criminal justice, voting rights, and environmentalism.

 

He is a proud holder of a B.A. in Music from Occidental College, an MSc in Sustainability Science & Policy from Maastricht University, and a J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he participated in the Environmental Law Clinic and served as an Articles Editor for the Columbia Journal of Environmental Law.

 

In his free time, Basil enjoys word games, choral music, and doting on his cat.
